The primary aim of collating standardized international data and aligning with FDI Vision 2030, FDI conceptualized the Oral Health Observatory (OHO) in 2014. Indian Dental Association (IDA) was the key nodal body for implementing OHO in India for advanced data collection. The data collected as a part of the OHO portrayed a thorough understanding of the existing scenario relating to oral health status, care-seeking behaviors, oral hygiene practices, and habits that are deleterious for oral and overall health. The data facilitated a reflection upon the areas that may benefit from advocating with policymakers and health administrative authorities; stemming from which an advocacy report with recommendations was drafted by the core expert committee at IDA and submitted to FDI.
